NAIROBI CITY TOUR
You will be picked from your hotel at 8:00hrs and start your city tour by visiting the parliament buildings and the Kenyatta international Conference Center.
Nairobi is the capital and largest city of Kenya, the city and its surrounding area also forms the Nairobi province. The name "Nairobi" comes from the Masai Phrase Enkrare Nyirobi, which translates to the place of cool waters. However, it is popularly known as the "Green city in the sun" and surrounded by several expanding villas suburbs. The people of Nairobi are popular nicknamed Nairobians.
History: Founded in 1899 as a simple rail depot on the railway linking Mombasa to Uganda, the town quickly grew to become the capital of British East Africa in 1970 and eventually the capital of a free Kenyan republic in 1963. During Kenya's colonial period, the city became a centre of colonials, coffee, tea and sisal industry. Nairobi is also the capital of the Nairobi province and the Nairobi district. The city lies on the Nairobi river in the south of the nation and elevation of 1795mts above sea level.
The population in Nairobi is the most populous city in east African according to the 2009 census. In the administrative area of Nairobi, 4 millions inhabitants live within 696 km2. Nairobi is currently the 13th largest city in Africa, based on population and 4th largest in infrastructure development and its size. Visit the elephant's orphanage centre. This orphanage was founded by David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. His mission was to dedicate the protection and preservation of Africa wilderness and its denizens. Particularly endangered species such as elephants and black Rhinos.
After, drive to carnivore for lunch, the largest grilled game meat centre in Africa. Then visit Karen Blixen museum. Karen Blixen was a Dunish lady the author of "out of Africa" an Oscar winning film based Karen's an autobiography by the same title. She had a coffee farm on the foot of the Ngong hills.
Then proceed to the Giraffe centre. African fund for endangered wildlife. Also known as the Giraffe centre is an N.G.O formed in a bid to save the endangered Rothschild Giraffe.
Finally drive back to the city market which is situated in the middle of the city. Whereby, you will see a lot of traders and explore the fruits and vegetables.
